Private ballet lesson at the barre.

Online + In-Person

Ballet Privates

Private lessons at Barre & Beyond provide a completely personalized experience, allowing each student to receive focused, one-on-one instruction tailored to their individual needs and goals. Whether a beginner seeking a strong foundation, an intermediate dancer refining technique, or an advanced student preparing for auditions or competitions, private coaching ensures rapid and effective progress. Every session is customized — offering specialized training in ballet, fitness, pointe work, flexibility, or cross-training for athletes such as ice skaters, gymnasts, and actors.

For online private lessons, students receive real-time feedback via Zoom, benefiting from direct guidance just as they would in person. Each student is given personalized exercises to practice before their next session, reinforcing progress between lessons. Before beginning, a consultation is held to assess the student's aspirations and create a structured plan for success — ensuring every private lesson is a stepping stone toward reaching their highest potential.

Pointe technique training.

Online + In-Person

Pointe Privates

Pointe work requires careful attention to strength, alignment, and technique. Barre & Beyond offers private pointe lessons tailored to each dancer's level and needs — whether just beginning the pointe journey or refining advanced technique. For students eager to start pointe but unsure if they're ready, an assessment evaluates foot strength, alignment, and overall ballet technique, ensuring training begins only when the necessary strength and control are in place to prevent injury.

Each lesson incorporates technical training alongside specialized strengthening and conditioning to improve foot, ankle, and core stability — articulation of the feet, proper weight placement, turnout support, and controlled transitions through demi-pointe. For advanced students, lessons also refine movement quality, sustained balances, multiple pirouettes, and dynamic jumps en pointe.

Pointe shoe fitting.

In-Person · $90

Pointe Shoe Fitting

Choosing the right pointe shoe is one of the most important decisions in a dancer's journey — and you don't have to do it alone. For $90, Bean Shindell will personally attend your professional pointe shoe fitting. With her trained eye and deep understanding of technique, anatomy, and the demands of pointe work, she'll help guide the process and ensure the perfect fit for you — not just your feet, but your artistry, strength, and growth as a dancer.

Bean works alongside the fitter to make sure your shoes aren't just comfortable and supportive, but that they allow you to move with confidence, avoid injury, and feel truly at home on pointe. Whether it's your very first pair or you're searching for a better match after years of dancing, bring someone who knows what to look for — and who cares deeply about your success.

Coaching a classical variation.

Online + In-Person

Variations Privates

Variations lessons are designed for students who want to refine and perfect a classical or contemporary solo. Whether preparing for a performance, competition, audition, or personal growth, these one-on-one sessions provide detailed technical and artistic instruction. Students can request a specific variation, and the lesson is structured around their unique needs — with emphasis on both precise execution and expressive, musically dynamic artistry.

Beyond technique, these sessions develop musicality, stage presence, and performance quality — helping students connect with their audience and embody the character of their variation. Detailed feedback covers phrasing, breath control, and expressive use of the body. For competitions and performances, additional guidance is offered on costume choices, styling, and overall presentation for a polished, stage-ready performance.

Ballet-inspired fitness session.

Online + In-Person

Ballet Fitness

Our ballet-inspired fitness lessons blend the grace and precision of ballet with the power and intensity of fitness training. Designed for anyone looking to achieve a strong, lean physique, these sessions combine ballet barre exercises, high-intensity workouts, and additional modalities for a well-rounded, full-body workout. No equipment is required, though recommendations are provided for those who want to advance with resistance bands, light weights, or a barre.

Beyond aesthetics, each session is structured to build endurance, improve strength, and enhance flexibility — targeted work for core stability, leg strength, and upper-body control, all within flowing movement that challenges balance and coordination. Whether your goal is to tone, increase mobility, or develop the stamina and power of a dancer, these sessions provide a dynamic and effective path to fitness.

Deep stretch and mobility work.

Online + In-Person

Stretch & Mobility

Flexibility and mobility are essential for both fitness and overall well-being. Our stretch & mobility lessons provide a balanced approach — combining passive stretching for deep relaxation with active flexibility training to build strength through movement. The goal is not just to increase range of motion, but to develop control, stability, and balance for better posture, injury prevention, and improved performance in any activity. With a ballet-inspired focus, these sessions are especially beneficial for those seeking the graceful flexibility and body awareness of a dancer.

Unlike rigid stretching programs, these lessons are accessible at any level. Variations of each exercise let participants tailor the work to their current flexibility and strength. Whether you're looking to increase your splits, develop better turnout, or simply feel more mobile and balanced in daily life, you'll find guided exercises that help you progress at your own pace.
